Basketball Game Preview: Menchville Monarchs vs. Nansemond River Warriors

The Menchville Monarchs will challenge the Nansemond River Warriors on Thursday. Menchville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 matchups -- so hopefully Nansemond River likes a good challenge.

Menchville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They breezed past Bethel to the tune of 91-14. The Monarchs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 games by 24 points or more this season.

Woodside typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Nansemond River proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 51-43 win over the Wolverines. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Menchville pushed their record up to 22-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.4 points over those games. As for Nansemond River, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.

Menchville came up short against Nansemond River when the teams last played back in February of 2017, falling 40-35. Can Menchville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
