Basketball Recap: Liam Spalik's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chenango Forks over Seton Catholic Central

Chenango Forks lost against Seton Catholic Central back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Chenango Forks Blue Devils lost 65-44 to the Seton Catholic Central Saints. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while the Saints are ranked 33rd).

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Liam Spalik, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points. The dominant performance gave Spalik a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Brady Vaseleck, who posted 11 points.

Allan Eagles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Seton Catholic Central, almost dropping a double-double on 29 points and nine boards. Eagles has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. Liam Kozel was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Chenango Forks' defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Seton Catholic Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.

Chenango Forks didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-30 victory against Susquehanna Valley on the 31st. Seton Catholic Central has also already played their next match, an 82-46 win against Windsor Central on the 31st.
