Softball Recap: Orion Takes a Loss

Orion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 11-4 to the Sherrard Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.

Hayden Gehring was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Avah Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Orion's defeat dropped their record down to 9-22. As for Sherrard, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 19-8.

Coming up, Orion will challenge Sterling at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Sherrard, they will face off against Mendota at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.32 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
