Baseball Game Preview: Kearsley Hornets vs. Imlay City Spartans

The Kearsley Hornets will challenge the Imlay City Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Kearsley came up short against Clio and fell 4-1. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kearsley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Roesner, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one double.

Meanwhile, Imlay City earned a 7-2 win over Vassar on Friday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Vulcans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Vincent Guerin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Brady Detwiler was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Trace Dennis was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI.

Imlay City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Imlay City's win bumped their record up to 4-13-1. As for Kearsley, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
