Softball Recap: Brookside's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Brookside came into Tuesday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let the Clearview Clippers get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Tuesday. The Cardinals not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 20-0).

Markie-Ann Aliff made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Aliff was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since April 1st.

In other batting news, Brookside got a massive performance out of Leann Clark, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave Clark a new career-high in doubles (two). Khloe Racz was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Brookside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Brookside's win bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Clearview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.

Coming up, Brookside will venture away from home to challenge Lutheran West at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Clearview, they will welcome Black River at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Clippers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
