Softball Recap: Huntland Hornets vs. Moore County Raiders
Huntland scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Moore County Raiders 18-16. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Huntland as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Bailey Morris made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Morris was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Huntland got a massive performance out of Jocy May, who went 5-for-6 with a home run, six RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Hadley Gardner, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and four RBI.
The win got Huntland back to even at 5-5. As for Moore County, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Cornersville the next time they take the field. Huntland will head out to face Cornersville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Moore County will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
