Morgan Brooks made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.
Meanwhile, UME Preparatory Academy made easy work of Pantego Christian on Monday and carried off a 13-2 win. Considering the EAGLES have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Adelina Sauceda made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Sauceda was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Madison Holland and Jenevive Fleming did most of the damage at the plate: Holland scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Fleming scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, Fleming posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgia Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
UME Preparatory Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .552 or higher in four consecutive contests.
UME Preparatory Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Newman International Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Newman International Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like UME Preparatory Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
