Football Game Preview: Staunton vs. Roxana

On Friday Roxana will take on Staunton at 7:00 PM. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.

After soaring to 40 points the game before, Roxana faltered in their game last Friday. They took a serious blow against Vandalia last Friday, falling 7-43. Roxana's defeat came about despite a quality game from junior Michael Ilch, who rushed for 79 yards and 1 touchdown. One of the most memorable plays of the contest was Ilch's 51-yard touchdown rush in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, after a dominant win in their match two weeks ago, Staunton were humbled. They were dealt a punishing 0-42 loss at the hands of Carlinville. Staunton were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-21.

With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Neither squad could put together much of an offensive attack, so expect every point to count.
