Volleyball Game Preview: Orcutt Academy Spartans vs. Morro Bay Pirates

The Orcutt Academy Spartans will square off against the Morro Bay Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Orcutt Academy is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 28, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Nipomo, falling 3-0.

While Orcutt Academy had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-20.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Morro Bay, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Atascadero last Tuesday.

Morro Bay had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-12.

Orcutt Academy's loss dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Morro Bay, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-13.

Orcutt Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Morro Bay when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 3-1. Will Orcutt Academy repeat their success, or does Morro Bay has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
