Basketball Game Preview: Matoaca Warriors vs. Midlothian Trojans

Matoaca hasn't had much luck against Midlothian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Matoaca Warriors just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Midlothian Trojans at 7:30 p.m.

On Monday, Matoaca had to suffer through a 73-37 loss at the hands of Thomas Dale. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Knights are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, Midlothian posted their biggest win since January 21st on Monday. They claimed a resounding 58-16 victory over Huguenot. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their 18-point performance the matchup before.

Matoaca's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Midlothian, their win bumped their record up to 4-15.

Matoaca came up short against Midlothian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 47-41. Can Matoaca avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
