Volleyball Recap: Cloverleaf Comes Up Short

Cloverleaf lost against Norton on September 4th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Colts took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. While the Colts didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-20 in the first set.

Cloverleaf started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.

Marlo Downing paced Cloverleaf's offense, picking up 15 kills. Downing got some help from Madi Young and her 30 assists. Downing also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Evie Barth, each putting up two.

Among those leading the charge was Haley Sanderson, who had 11 digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Cloverleaf dropped their record down to 13-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Norton, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-1.

Cloverleaf has already played their next contest (against Field), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Norton, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Streetsboro on the 1st.
