Basketball Recap: Brooks Comes Up Short

Brooks had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 12-12 to make it four. They came up short against the Marist RedHawks, falling 70-44. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the RedHawks are ranked 12th).

When it comes to explaining why Brooks lost, don't look at Isaiah Hall. Despite the final result, he shot 75% from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points. Thanks to that strong game, Hall now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. Malik Arogundade was another key player, putting up six points.

As for Marist, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-4. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marist to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stephen Brown, who posted 11 points and five assists. Those five assists gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adoni Vassilakis, who went 5-for-9 en route to 14 points.

Brooks has already played their next contest, a 67-66 loss against Thornwood on the 6th. As for Marist, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 70-42 win against Nazareth Academy on the 6th.
