Basketball Recap: Grand Junction Central's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Grand Junction Central had to endure an 11-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 victory over the Delta Panthers on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Grand Junction Central was led to victory by Blake Rooks and Adam Tabora. Rooks posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, while Tabora had 16 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaime Padilla, who put up nine points and five assists.

Grand Junction Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Grand Junction Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Delta, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

After both having extra time off, Grand Junction Central and Rifle will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Rifle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. As for Delta, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Palisade at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
