Basketball Recap: J.H. Rose Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, J.H. Rose was not quite Northside - Pinetown's equal in the second half on Monday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to the Northside - Pinetown Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Rampants can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Panthers are ranked 149th).

Several Rampants players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kahrin Highsmith, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Highsmith is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Alaya Clemons, who posted 12 points and three steals.

J.H. Rose's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Northside - Pinetown, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

J.H. Rose has already played their next contest, a 73-27 loss against Jacksonville on the 12th. As for Northside - Pinetown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-53 win against Pamlico County on the 11th.
