Basketball Recap: Land O' Lakes Falls Despite Big Games from Alex Nichols and Jessi Saffold

Land O' Lakes and Wiregrass Ranch squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Land O' Lakes had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls by a score of 26-24. The Gators just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Land O' Lakes' loss came despite strong showings from Jessi Saffold and Alex Nichols. Saffold dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals, while Nichols posted nine points and five steals. Saffold is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Land O' Lakes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Wiregrass Ranch was led to victory by Andralee Keim and Tennae Cabral. Keim put up 13 points and eight rebounds, while Cabral earned six points in addition to ten boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Natalee VanDamme, who had no points and five steals.

Land O' Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Land O' Lakes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they will challenge Mitchell on Thursday. Wiregrass Ranch is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
