Baseball Game Preview: Kennedy Thunderbirds vs. Chavez Titans

For the second straight game, Kennedy will face off against Chavez. The Thunderbirds will face off against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Things were looking good for Kennedy after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Chavez by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost four in a row.

Miguel Gutierrez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Gutierrez wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Diego Ruiz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Chavez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
