Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Spartans vs. Seguin Cougars

The Centennial Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Seguin Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Centennial is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mansfield Summit just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by the Jaguars and fell 67-23. Having soared to a lofty 70 points in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seguin). They blew past Everman 80-55 on Friday. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 680th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centennial's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 24-6. As for Seguin, their victory bumped their record up to 16-13.

Centennial didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Seguin in their previous matchup on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 63-57 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centennial since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
