Football Recap: Lenoir City Comes Up Short

Lenoir City extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-3. They were beaten by the McMinn County Cherokees 52-13. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Cherokees are ranked 49th).

Although Lenoir City took the loss, they still got scores from Brian Phillips and Caleb Brock.

As for McMinn County, their record now sits at 3-1. That looming 52-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Leading McMinn County to victory were Luke Lawson and Jakaryn Dyer. Lawson threw for 273 yards and five TDs on only 19 passes, while Dyer gained 136 total yards and three touchdowns. Dyer is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lenoir City will face off against rival East Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, McMinn County is set to take on their familiar foe Soddy Daisy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
