Softball Recap: Nichols Vikings vs. East Aurora Blue Devils
Nichols had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the East Aurora Blue Devils. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Reyes Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Rodriguez was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Nichols let Annabelle Berke and Brynn Bacak run wild. Berke scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Bacak scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Berke has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Chebat, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Nichols always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Aurora only posted an OBP of .409.
East Aurora's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Coming up, Nichols will take on Nardin Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give the Vikings their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for East Aurora, they will venture away from home to square off against Olean at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
