Basketball Recap: Madisonville Victorious

Madisonville hadn't done well against Center recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Madisonville Mustangs made off with a 68-67 victory over the Center Roughriders. The score was all tied up 31-31 at the break, but the Mustangs were the better team in the second half.

Tim Johnson and JaKevin(Tiki) Robinson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Johnson went 9 for 14 on his way to 25 points and three steals, while Robinson dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Robinson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmarion (JA) Smith, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Madisonville and bumps their season record up to 19-6. As for Center, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-7.

Madisonville will face off against Rusk at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Center, they will challenge Bullard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
