Softball Recap: Rigby Comes Up Short

Rigby made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Blackfoot, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trojans fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 6-4 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Trojans have suffered since March 15th.

Mikayla Dean spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Addison Cox made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Rigby dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Blackfoot, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rigby beat Blackfoot by a score of 16-14 later that day.
