Preview: McClain Tigers vs. Unioto Shermans
The McClain Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Unioto Shermans at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. McClain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Wednesday, McClain blew past Zane Trace, posting a 60-23 win at home.
Meanwhile, Unioto stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Southeastern on the road to the tune of 59-21. Unioto pushed the score to 57-16 by the end of the third, a deficit Southeastern cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Milee Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Amaris Betts, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
McClain's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. As for Unioto, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3.
McClain took a serious blow against Unioto in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 57-22. Can McClain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
