Basketball Game Preview: North Clayton Eagles vs. Stephenson Jaguars

The North Clayton Eagles will face off against the Stephenson Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Clayton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, North Clayton ended up a good deal behind Cedar Grove and lost 75-57. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Saints are ranked 11th).

North Clayton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaquavius Cox, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards, and Triston Magitt, who posted 20 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Cox a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Deonta Croft, who earned five points.

Meanwhile, Stephenson was beaten by East Coweta 87-49 on Monday.

North Clayton now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Stephenson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

North Clayton didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Stephenson in their previous meeting two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win. Will North Clayton repeat their success, or does Stephenson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
