Softball Game Preview: Burgin Bulldogs vs. Paris Greyhounds

Burgin hasn't had much luck against Paris recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. Paris took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Burgin, who comes in off a win.

Burgin will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Danville, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 27-10 margin over the Admirals on Monday. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Jemma Jenkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Jenkins was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with six RBI, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those triples were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Leah Jenkins was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaydance Logue, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

Burgin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .638. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Paris was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 15-2 to Frederick Douglass.

Burgin's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7. As for Paris, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Burgin might still be hurting after the 17-5 loss they got from Paris in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
