Basketball Game Preview: Deep Creek Hornets vs. Lakeland Cavaliers

Deep Creek hasn't had much luck against Lakeland recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Deep Creek Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Lakeland Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Deep Creek is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They took a blow against Oscar Smith, falling 84-52. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Tigers are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Lakeland was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 69-63 to Indian River. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Deep Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Deep Creek came up short against Lakeland in their previous meeting back in January, falling 69-56. Can Deep Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
