Baseball Game Preview: Olympia Titans vs. Lake Nona Lions

The Olympia Titans will square off against the Lake Nona Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Olympia has four straight wins, Lake Nona has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Olympia is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since April 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Windermere 5-4. The game was the first time the Titans have beaten the Wolverines on their field since April 28, 2021.

Jack Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, Olympia's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Rathmann, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Colin Harden also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Lake Nona didn't have quite enough to beat Harmony on Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Tanner Pielock was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five games.

Lake Nona's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-6. As for Olympia, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Olympia beat Lake Nona 8-5 in their previous matchup on Friday. Does Olympia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Nona turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
