Grasso Tech is 8-2 against Vinal RVT since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Hawks at 3:45 p.m. Grasso Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Grasso Tech made easy work of Platt RVT and carried off a 13-1 victory. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.
Gabe Grossman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Grasso Tech let Reis Whitfield and Yankee De La Cruz-Nieves run wild. Whitfield went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while De La Cruz-Nieves went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Raymer Guzman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Vinal RVT wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Like Grasso Tech, Vinal RVT also got a great game from a two-way player: Adam Cross. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Cross was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Thomas Moniello made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
The win got Grasso Tech back to even at 3-3. As for Vinal RVT, their record now sits at 2-9.
Vinal RVT's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Grasso Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. It's a different story for Vinal RVT, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Grasso Tech's hitters?
Everything went Grasso Tech's way against Vinal RVT when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Grasso Tech made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
