Recap: Weddington Warriors vs. Cuthbertson Cavaliers

The Weddington Warriors suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Cuthbertson by a score of 37-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Weddington has scored all season.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Motto, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and two steals. Motto has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Natalie Poole was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.

Cuthbertson found their leader in underclassman Christian Mundy, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Mundy pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Johnson, who scored nine points along with four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Weddington and nudges their season record down to 9-6. As for Cuthbertson, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.

Weddington will be playing in front of their home fans against Sun Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sun Valley is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Cuthbertson, they will square off against Porter Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Porter Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Tuesday.
