Basketball Recap: Maclay Drops Highest Score of Season Against Central Hinds Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maclay). They strolled past the Central Hinds Academy Cougars with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 59-43.

Maclay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Beau Beshears led the charge by shooting 71% from the field on his way to 15 points. Thanks to that strong game, Beshears now owns an excellent 60% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Foos, who went 5-for-8 en route to 12 points.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Junior Wilson, who posted 21 points. That was a full 48.8% of Central Hinds Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row Wilson has had more than a third of the team's points. Mason Havard was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Maclay's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Central Hinds Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Maclay has already played their next game, a 56-55 loss against North Florida Christian on the 1st. As for Central Hinds Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-42 defeat against Hillcrest Christian on the 1st.
