Softball Preview: Rickards Raiders vs. Hamilton County Trojans

Rickards is 0-4 against Hamilton County since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Rickards Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Hamilton County Trojans at 6:00 p.m.

Rickards is is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They fell 10-6 to Wakulla Christian School.

Ka'Miah Dishman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Shaniah Bennett was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Rickards was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with six doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wakulla Christian School only hit three.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hamilton County, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Leon on Tuesday as Hamilton County made off with a 7-1 victory.

Emily Peacock was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Peacock has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Peacock was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Annakayte Smith was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ralynn Moody, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
