Baseball Game Preview: West Covina Bulldogs vs. South Spartans

The West Covina Bulldogs will square off against the South Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. West Covina hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

West Covina took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Northview, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Vikings 2-1 on Thursday.

West Covina saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Murillo, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

West Covina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, South posted their closest win since February 25th on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Peninsula 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

South's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for West Covina, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
