Baseball Recap: Miami Comes Up Short

If Miami was feeling good fresh off their 16-0 takedown of Somerset Academy South Homestead last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Stingarees lost 14-4 to the Key West Conchs on Friday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Stingarees, who until this match were averaging 3.2 runs allowed.

Jhuseph Mejias was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Nicholas Yanes was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Miami has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-5 record this season. As for Key West, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Conchs beat Miami by a score of 11-8 on Saturday.
