Baseball Recap: Winton Woods Takes a Loss

Winton Woods had lost 15 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 0-16 to make it 16. They lost 17-0 to the Little Miami Panthers. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 13-3 to the Panthers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Little Miami, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

For Little Miami's part, Blake Longbottom looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Little Miami got a massive performance out of Luke Brewsaugh, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those two hits gave Brewsaugh a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austen Hoch, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Little Miami beat Winton Woods by a score of 15-4 later that day.
