Basketball Recap: Kennedy Mckee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Champion over Southeast

Champion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Southeast Pirates, falling 48-27. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Flashes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-26 back in December of 2024.

Champion's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy McKee, who posted six points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Braham, who earned seven points.

Champion's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Southeast, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Champion will square off against Crestview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crestview knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Champion likes a good challenge. As for Southeast, they will challenge Brookfield at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
