Softball Preview: Meridian Warriors vs. Owyhee Storm

Meridian hasn't had much luck against Owyhee recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Storm at 7:00 p.m. Meridian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season.

Meridian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ridgevue, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Warhawks on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Reagan Morris was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Meridian got a massive performance out of Alexia Flygare, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most runs Flygare has posted since back in April of 2024. Alison Pitman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meridian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgevue only posted an OBP of .385.

Meanwhile, Owyhee strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They beat Mountain View by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1.

Owyhee's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-0. As for Meridian, their record now sits at 9-6.

Meridian suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Owyhee in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
