Basketball Recap: Ellie Adams Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hickory Christian Academy

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but University Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Hickory Christian Academy Knights by a score of 59-50. With that victory, the Barracudas brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ellie Adams, who posted 29 points. Adams continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Tompkins, who had 19 points.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Annie Lewis, who earned nine points. Lewis has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Rachael Meadows also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

The win made it two in a row for University Christian and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Hickory Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

University Christian has already played their next game (against Statesville Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hickory Christian Academy will challenge Salem Baptist Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
