Volleyball Recap: Spearfish Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Dell Rapids

Spearfish faced Dell Rapids in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Spartans took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Quarriers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Adelyn Bouman paced Spearfish's offense, picking up five kills. Bouman got some help from Kali Reiners and her 12 assists. Bouman also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Tabby Zandstra, racking up two apiece.

Among those leading the charge was Alaina Wolff, who had nine digs and three aces.

Spearfish's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Dell Rapids, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Spearfish has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Watertown on the 30th. As for Dell Rapids, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Brandon Valley on the 30th.
