League recap: Burke County tops Butler to extend winning streak

AAAA Region 3B recap November 5, 2013

Adding to the longest winning streak in AAAA Region 3B this week, Burke County beat Butler 62-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Bears.

Academy of Richmond County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,992 from 6,371. The improvement was the result of a 49-6 victory over Cross Creek last week.

The Musketeers' dynamic duo of Tony Daggett and Britto Tutt proved tough for the Razorbacks to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Daggett threw for 99 yards and 1 touchdown and Tutt had 54 yards receiving. Devon Corbo helped Academy of Richmond County's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 40 yards.

Kahlige Fleglar provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Glenn Hills bested Hephzibah. Fleglar's key target this week was Glen pace, who caught 2 passes for 43 yards.

Fleglar was a force in the backfield as the Spartans defeated the Rebels.

Glenn Hills' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Santo Nina has thrown for 892 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Earlmonquez Cobb has 22 catches for 393 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Burke County takes on second place Glenn Hills. Burke County topped the Bulldogs last week, while Glenn Hills defeated Hephzibah.

Eric Parker's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 62 points on Butler.
