Basketball Game Preview: Wayland-Cohocton Eagles vs. Dansville Mustangs

The Wayland-Cohocton Eagles will face off against the Dansville Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Wayland-Cohocton lost 69-43 to Midlakes on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Dansville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 72-62 to Livonia.

Wayland-Cohocton will have to contain Ivan Wolf-Mialky as he made an impact in Dansville's last game. He dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Wolf-Mialky is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Caleb Knapp was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dansville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests.

Dansville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Wayland-Cohocton, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-7.

Wayland-Cohocton won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2024, slipping by Dansville 54-53. Will Wayland-Cohocton repeat their success, or does Dansville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
