Basketball Recap: Vela Extends Winning Streak to Four

Vela won against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial on Tuesday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Sabercats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders, sneaking past 54-51. Winning may never get old, but the Sabercats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Vela's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabby Jaramillo led the charge by putting up 11 points along with six boards and five assists. Those five assists gave Jaramillo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gena Benavidez, who posted 14 points.

Vela's win bumped their record up to 23-8. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they moved to 25-7 with that defeat, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.
