Football Recap: Montgomery Academy Eagles vs. Saint James Trojans

A well-balanced attack led Montgomery Academy over Saint James in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Montgomery Academy Eagles blew the Saint James Trojans out of the water with a 35-8 final score. The Eagles pushed the score to 28-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans had little chance of recovering from.

Montgomery Academy found their leader in underclassman Reid Mcbride, who threw for 145 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown. Braden Gordon was Mcbride's top target, picking up 47 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Montgomery Academy's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Jarrett Friendly and D.J. Vinson. Vinson got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of63 yards. Knox Wingate was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making eight total tackles.

The victory made it two in a row for Montgomery Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Saint James, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montgomery Academy will stay at home for another week and welcome Houston Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saint James, they will host Bullock County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
