Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is New Milford's 12th in Last 15 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only New Milford walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Stratford Red Devils with a sharp 11-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Green Wave, who have now won 13 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Lydia Rocky's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Cienna McNamara and Kelsey Blom did most of the damage at the plate: McNamara went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Blom went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Blom a new career-high. Ava Kopp was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

New Milford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stratford only posted an OBP of .375.

New Milford has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Stratford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12.

New Milford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against Mercy on the 4th. Stratford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
