Basketball Game Preview: Socrates Academy Owls vs. Davidson Day Patriots

The Socrates Academy Owls will square off against the Davidson Day Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Socrates Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.8 points per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Socrates Academy duked it out withThe Fletcher School on January 9th. Socrates Academy claimed a resounding 83-44 win over The Fletcher School. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-26.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Socrates Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than JP Polburn, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Polburn is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Dom Vazquetelles was another key player, going 6 for 12 on his way to 17 points and five steals.

Socrates Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Davidson Day entered their tilt with Victory Christian Center on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Kings 49-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since December 29, 2023.

Davidson Day is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 18-12 record this season. As for Socrates Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
