3A Region II District 14 recap October 8, 2013
Rains's Dakota Miller recorded the longest rushing play in 3A Region II District 14 this season in his game against Community last week. Miller's team bested the Braves as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 189 in all.
Crandall moved up to 521 from 639 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates were able to move up by defeating Wilmer-Hutchins 49-18.
Rains' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ryan Ratliff threw for 53 yards and Dilan House had 53 yards receiving. On the ground Jesse Hudson contributed 206 yards.
Hudson was a passing and rushing force as Derek Smith's team beat Community. Hudson's key target this week was House, who caught 2 passes for 53 yards.
Hudson was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 206 yards as the Wildcats topped Bryan O'Neal's team. Miller also contributed to the rushing game with 189 yards on the ground.
6-foot-3 quarterback Ratliff of Rains is the league leader in passing yards this season with 453. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Cameron Duncan. The Kaufman star has 11 catches for 139 yards.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Kaufman's Duncan goes up against the Wildcats' Hudson.
Two of the top units in 3A Region II District 14 will face off this week when Rains takes on the Lions. The Wildcats' offense has recorded 178 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Kaufman has permitted only 125 on the year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Rains takes on Todd York's team. The Wildcats are in second place, while the Lions are in third place.
Ford and Bonham played the most contested game in the league this week, with Ford eventually emerging with a 21-19 victory. Dalton Beierschmitt ran for 104 yards during the win.
