Softball Recap: Brunswick Academy Wins Going Away Against John Paul II Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brunswick Academy). Everything went their way against the John Paul II Catholic Saints on Saturday as the Brunswick Academy Vikings made off with an 18-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

Aubrey Lynn Corum was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Lexi Vaughan Howerton was another key player, scoring four runs while going 2-for-3.

Brunswick Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Brunswick Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for John Paul II Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Brunswick Academy will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Tidewater Academy at 4:00 p.m. Brunswick Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Tidewater Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for John Paul II Catholic, they have already played their next match, an 8-6 victory against Southampton Academy on the 15th.
