Football Game Preview: Maria Carrillo Pumas vs. Milpitas Trojans + How To Watch

The Maria Carrillo Pumas will head out on the road to take on the Milpitas Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Maria Carrillo is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Petaluma on Friday. The game between the Pumas and the Trojans didn't end well, with the Pumas falling 35-21. The Pumas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maria Carrillo's loss came about despite a quality game from Estefan Ramirez, who rushed for 82 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Milpitas). They took down Los Altos 38-21 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Maria Carrillo better keep an eye on Nizhir Bess. He was instrumental in Milpitas' win, rushing for 94 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries. Bess also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making ten total tackles. Kale Hawelu got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Milpitas' run defense was locked in: Los Altos could only muster -0.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least ten total tackles, Bess stood above the rest. He rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Milpitas didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.5.

Milpitas didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ayden Guglielmelli and Hawelu. Hawelu got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Milpitas and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points over those games. As for Maria Carrillo, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
