Baseball Preview: Croton-Harmon Tigers vs. Nyack Red Hawks
The Croton-Harmon Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Nyack Red Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Nyack took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Croton-Harmon, who comes in off a win.
While Tigers fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Saturday's season opener. Everything went their way against Irvington on Saturday as Croton-Harmon made off with a 13-4 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Oren Rouas looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Harry Kahn was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Eric Min, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Nyack unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Suffern on Saturday, falling 7-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.
Nyack saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Caneiro, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
