Soccer Game Preview: Brookland-Cayce vs. Aiken

The Brookland-Cayce Bearcats will venture away from home to take on the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brookland-Cayce's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Brookland-Cayce took a seven-goal loss the last time they faced off against North Augusta, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Brookland-Cayce sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over North Augusta on Monday. Brookland-Cayce wouldn't have won without Layne Powers, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Aiken came up short against Gray Collegiate Academy on Monday and fell 4-2. Aiken haven't had much luck with Gray Collegiate Academy recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Aiken now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Brookland-Cayce, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Brookland-Cayce might still be hurting after the 6-1 defeat they got from Aiken when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can Brookland-Cayce avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
