Softball Game Preview: Dallas Mountaineers vs. North Pocono Trojans

The Dallas Mountaineers will head out on the road to square off against the North Pocono Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dallas not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25, 2024. They put the hurt on Greater Nanticoke Area with a sharp 19-3 victory. The Mountaineers have beaten the Trojans the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Trojans has come to flipping the script.

EMMA FOSTOCK was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. JADE SMITH was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

FOSTOCK wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Dallas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, North Pocono earned an 8-4 win over East Stroudsburg South on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Amelia Bell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Bell was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Forgione, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Riley Grambo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

North Pocono's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dallas, their record now sits at 2-0.

Dallas suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to North Pocono when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Dallas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
