Basketball Recap: Omaha Westside Falls Short of Millard West in the Playoffs

Omaha Westside and Millard West squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Omaha Westside had to settle for second. They lost 70-44 to the Millard West Wildcats. The Warriors have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Despite the loss, Omaha Westside still got an impressive performance from Himayajo Metoyer, who posted 18 points. With that strong performance, Metoyer is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. Another player making a difference was Kendyl Davis, who had six points.

Millard West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Neleigh Gessert led the charge by shooting 50% from the field en route to 18 points along with six boards and three steals. Gessert is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Jade Lewis was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 17 points and eight rebounds.

Omaha Westside's loss dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Millard West, the victory was the 26th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-1.
